Brown, Laura. “The Benefits of Music Education.” PBS.org, 16 May 2013 http://www.pbs.org/p arents/education/music-arts/the-benefits-of-music-education/

Laura Lewis Brown is a writer, editor, and professor at the University of Maryland. Dedicating some of her time to journalism in early-childhood studies, she too a look into the different benefits of Music education in children starting around the age of 5 and 6. In her studies she notes the direct correlations of music education to language development and increased IQ. Brown even notates how the brain works harder when children take up instruments early. Even though this study does not include high school students and focuses primarily on early childhood, there is very notable information. It made it easier to relay back to development relating directly to my research question.
