Annoying Ways People Use My Sources

Uncle Barry and His Encyclopedia of Useless Information- when a writer integrates pointless facts that don’t really develop or support their topic. They are thrown in almost as fillers but serve no real purpose other than to take up the word count. They can leave readers confused, yeah the writer may know a ton of information about everything, but that doesn’t aid when you have one main point you want to get across, if anything it hurts the focus of your paper. As a writer, while drafting an article on Baking a Cake, you wouldn’t throw in facts on how to change a tire in the middle of your steps unless there is a direct correlation you want your audience to make. Even if it isn’t that drastic, if your papers job is to focus on the current Presidency and it effects around the world, you wouldn’t need to address all other 44 presidents and their presidencies. You want to make sure you target and limit your information to the things that will really benefit the reader and tie in to your main point.
The annoyance I believe I use the most is Armadillo Roadkill, I don’t believe I introduce a quote as much as I probably should. I make sure I give the author credit, but probably not enough so I wouldn’t say it's Roadkill but definitely close. I try to address just the reader before I begin a quote but I don’t always fully develop a background of the source. Stedman says the easiest way to fix this problem is to just return to your sources when your done writing and double check.

My rankings changed most when it came to annoyances dealing with off-topic and unrelated information. You don’t realize how off and the lack of purpose it has until you re-read and you are left with that blank stare of “What is this?”. That's something I don’t believe I do but will definitely start to watch out for a little more closely, because a random fact is not worth your credibility.
